The staff is always so welcoming and helpful. There’s no minimum order for the bulk bin herb section, and you can bring your own containers to fill up. I appreciate that the store has a sign discouraging non-native folks from using white sage, which is something other herb stores don’t always address.

I was insulted by the tone on the phone….just while taking confirmation that my purchase was ready. Insulted to arrive on a Saturday to a note on the door to wait because they were on break. Didn’t even trust the tone of “welcome” when I walked in….yup, I’m Black. And then she couldn’t find my order. Got questioned about the every details like I was making a mistake. Once it was determined that I must have an order, she looked for my product with earnest and found it “because somebody else put it on the wrong shelf” (of two where there were not more than 10 bottles total). It’s the vibe. If this new supplement is helpful I’m gonna need a new place to shop.

awesome neighborhood spot to get tinctures! They have Kava kava, ashwaganda, astralagus, Ginger and plenty of others. Also a good bulk herb selection, candles and cute greeting cards. Shop local avoid ,box stores

I am always looked down upon when I walk in the store by most of the employees. If you are a person of color I recommend you do not shop at this store. They make it very clear that you are not welcome. They follow you around the store, speak down to you, and treat you like you have no knowledge of any of the products in the store. I've tried to support this local business for 2+yrs but today was the final straw. I cannot and will not deal with their bigotry one more time.

Five Flavors Herbs is my favorite resource for herbal medicines in the Bay area - they offer high-quality bulk herbs (including a great selection of carefully harvested native medicinal herbs), single plant and blended tinctures and glycerites lovingly made in the shop, delicious tea blends, and more. The selection of Western and Chinese herbs is quite extensive, and they offer custom formula blending services for health care practitioners.

In addition, Five Flavors Herbs offers classes on herbal medicine for both practitioners and lay people and hosts art and music events and movie nights. They also offer appointments with acupuncturists, herbalists, and alternative medicine practitioners.
