I am ecstatic to learn that you’re still open and serving the community healthy, Whole Foods. I was blessed with a mama who cared about such things, and in the mid 70s, I was lucky to join her on her weekly errands, one of which was always to The Food Mill. My mom let me grind our peanut butter, and I often got to pick out a nice hunk of carob. Few people today know that is, it seems, but I just tell them that’s what gave sixlets their distinctive, malted flavor. I moved away but my dad still lives in Hayward and my sister is an Oakland resident and frequents your store often. I will visit on my next trip down from the mountains. I can’t wait! Thank you for sticking to your mission and making your business last.

I love going to the Food Mill. They are very Covid safe and only let a small amount of people in at once. They have gloves for you to wear, and sanitizer, too.. It reminds me of my favorite co-op in Ukiah. There are lots of grains, nuts, and seeds in bulk. They also have organic vegetables and fruits that are in season. Can you believe they also bake their own cookies and sell them at a reasonable price. They also have a section with books on health - - like an old fashion health food store.

At the Food Mill, Covid has made it so they are short on a lot of ingredients. I went there specifically to get herbs to make homemade root beer. Two of the ingredients I needed, weren't available. I talked with the owner and he said that Covid has hit a lot of their distributors very hard, and so they are out of certain items.

WARNING watch out the price on what you buy because it's cheaper somewhere else. I normally buy probiotic capsules at health unlimited in Castro valley and i recently purchased them at foodmill Oakland because i buy other items at foodmill that don't have anywhere else.

Been going and shopping there since 1974, it's a little out of my way now, but I still find the time to shop there. To me the Food Mill will always be the standard which I measure all Health Foods stores against. They should have made them into a chain of stores throughout the Western States.

Great local store. Better selection on things like bulk foods than a lot of places. Their sesame cookies frozen are the best!

An excellent stop, one of a dying breed of old-school health food shop. Has real bulk bins to blend teas, whatever you want. It even had that vitamin, yeast smell that I remember when this was the norm for health food. Very clean, attentive and knowledgeable staff, prices were decent and lower than “whole paycheck.”

I am a long time customer and I am usually waited on by Michael. I find that in the past the staff has always been knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I send my co-workers and friends to your store on a regular basis. No one that I know will ever spend money in any other establishment if I have anything to say about it. I am always singing the praises of THE FOOD MILL and Michael.
However, I visited the store on April 4, 2017 and I was very disappointed in the service. I asked for Michael and was told he was at lunch. I then proceeded to shop for my usual products. The two sales associates were having a personal conversation that continued while I was asking questions. I had a question about collagen the sales associate came over to the shelf where I was standing and pointed to the product with her foot and told me which product she used. She never stopped her conversation with her co-worker during this interaction with me. I had more shopping to do, but I was so upset by her treatment I decided to just leave. I will still shop here but only with the older sales associates who understand the concept of CUSTOMER SERVICE>

Always been a great place to go and get herbs, spices, vitamins, and even popcorn. Staff is friendly and willing to assist. Always have been helped fully each time I go to the Food Mill. A store like this, is a real gem in the community.
